Our team members bring a vast range of both lived experiences and education working with youth that are on the Autism Spectrum, have learning and/or developmental delays, and aggressive behaviors.

Suspension Intervention &
Education Advocacy

Our agency’s philosophy is that early intervention for youth displaying difficult behaviors that includes their family, and in partnership with their school is how we can go about increasing stability for all involved. We interject intensive support services to youth and their families when the youth are beginning to exhibit difficult behaviors, when family struggles are first known, and prior to multiple suspensions. Our partnership with schools looks like supporting strategies that are in place, creating new strategies as needed, and being on-call for the youth and their family in and outside of school. When a youth is escalated, our team responds, attempts to de-escalate, and if that is not possible or appropriate because the student must leave school grounds, we bring them to our office. For the remainder of the day, the youth participate in our Building Resilience Programming, academic support, and prosocial-emotional activities. Youth engage with our Providers one on one and in group settings. Prior to the youth leaving DragonFly Landing that day, our Providers working with them create a plan for the evening that identifies their triggers, coping skills, and concrete action steps. We avoid a re-spark of the conversation / escalation by speaking with parent(s) about how the youth’s day went, their plan for the evening, and ask that a facilitated conversation about the events occur the following day instead of that evening. Ongoing, in-home services are put into place to create / practice skills and strategies that reduce stress, reduce behaviors, and increase stability across the family system.

Crisis Response

This service is on-call, 24/7. Providers assess the situation by phone and attempt to de-escalate. Should de-escalation not be possible or circumstances are highly volatile, Providers will come out to the scene. All parties are heard, a plan is created including a follow up the next morning. Our team will work with the family and other team members to create a longer-term plan.

Coming in March...
Parent & Youth Groups

Safe Families and Trust Based Relational Intervention (TBRI) are the foundation of this group's curriculum. Parents and youth participate together. Youth eligible to participate in the groups must be at least 10 years old. Groups are going to be held Tuesdays / Thursdays from 5p - 7p and Sundays from 12p - 2p at the DragonFly Landing Office. DragonFly Landing will be feeding dinner to all participants. Additionally, childcare is offered for Parents with youth that are not old enough to participate. The group of younger youth will participate in art and activities surrounding Building Resilience. Individuals with Medicaid can be set with medrides to and from the group. DragonFly Landing team members can assist with finding solutions for families that may experience barriers with transportation. Reach out to Ebony Hayes for more information or to register: ebonyh@dragonflylandingfs.com.

Building Resilience Camp

DragonFly Landing’s Building Resilience Camp has been created as a safe space for youth to be empowered by learning and practicing social-emotional skills, by gaining a better understanding of themselves / their values, as well as the systems in which they exist. The youth learn how to identify their strengths, stressors, coping skills, and how to effectively and appropriately self-advocate. Camp takes place during all school holidays and summer. Days and times are Monday - Friday from 10a - 4p. This year, DragonFly Landing has the ability to support ages 8 and older. Our program breaks down the various aspects that encompass Resilience then puts those principles into practice. Many of our youth have never been able to see a future for themselves. We help them understand their value, their worth, their capacity to not only survive, but to thrive toward their dreams. Providers work with them to establish goals for behaviors and emotion management, support them with academics, engage in prosocial activities, increase coping skills, and go on field trips.

Life Foundations Support

Lived experience is the foundation for our team members providing this service. We support individuals navigating court and other state systems, finding resources, finding housing and food, applying for benefits, general life emotional support.

Supervised Visitation

This service is intended to support safe, healthy, nurturing dynamics between the parent and the child(ren) they are visiting. Providers observe and assess for safety and can identify bonding and attachment factors based on the interactions and reactions of all parties in the space. Those facilitating Supervised Visitations have eyes on and are listening throughout the entirety of the session. As needed, Providers will interject in order to maintain appropriateness. Documentation is thorough, behavior based including timestamps, strengths, opportunities for improvement, and any additional commentary. Potentially concerning commentary is generally quoted with a time stamp, is interjected, and the impact on the children reviewed during the debrief. Each session is followed by a debrief with the visiting Parent about the dynamics observed. Further discussion is had surrounding any opportunities for improvement. This conversation includes some trauma informed parenting information to ensure that the Parent understands how that particular dynamic or interaction can negatively impact their children. Along with this understanding, the Provider will suggest or work with the Parent to create a plan for how to positively shift what needs improvement. If Parents are unwilling to enact the strategies discussed and continue with inappropriate dynamics, the individual will be subject to discharge. The hourly rate includes scheduling, documentation, and the debrief after each session.
